Bob Miles

Bob Miles is a 1963 Purdue alumnus in civil engineering. He recently sold his company, Bob L. Miles and Associates, a manufacturers' representative selling to the construction industry. He has been active in Kiwanis International and Key Club International for more than 37 years.

Through his Kiwanis efforts, Miles has been an active volunteer in the Jacksonville, Florida, schools, particularly with disadvantaged students. He chaired the board of directors for the Child Care Center at Oak Crest Methodist Church where they developed a feasibility study into a brand new center. Today, the center is a thriving operation serving more than 200 children and their families. He was also instrumental in developing the award-winning "SHOTS by TWO" program in Jacksonville, increasing the immunization rate of children under 2 from 67 to 87 percent.

Other volunteer efforts have focused on the Duval County 4-H Foundation, which Miles chaired for a number of years. He also completed a term as president of the Northside Business Leaders in Jacksonville where they experienced unprecedented membership growth under his leadership.

Upon retirement and a subsequent move to Maggie Valley, North Carolina, Miles remains active with the Kiwanis Club of Waynesville, North Carolina, serving as chairman of their annual BBQ fundraiser and as the club’s secretary. He also chairs the advisory council for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Haywood County and served on the Haywood County Child Abuse and Neglect Task Force.

Miles is a staunch supporter and advocate for the College of Consumer and Family Sciences (CFS) and the Center for Families at Purdue. He co-chaired, with his wife, Joyce, the CFS development team for the $13 million planned-giving campaign. They both currently serve on the President’s Council advisory committee.
