Rebecca Haynes-Bordas

Rebecca Haynes-Bordas is an Extension educator with Purdue University Consumer and Family Sciences Extension in Marion County (Indianapolis, Indiana). Specializing in family resource management, she works with low- to moderate-income individuals and families to help them become financially stable and meet short-term (day-to-day) financial obligations.

Haynes-Bordas is a 1969 Consumer and Family Sciences graduate. She received her master’s degree at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut. She also holds the designation of accredited financial counselor from the Association of Financial Counseling and Planning Education, as well as the certified credit report reviewer designation from the Institute of Consumer Financial Education. She is also a graduate of the North Central Region National Extension Leadership Development program.

Prior to joining Purdue Extension, her professional work experiences included home economics teacher in West Hartford, Connecticut, and State College, Pennsylvania, public schools; Extension educator and county Extension director for Norfolk Virginia Cooperative Extension; image consultant with Career Management Concepts in Chesapeake, Virginia; consultant to small businesses for Entre’ Computer Systems in Norfolk, Virginia; and Extension educator with Purdue Extension in Wells County (Bluffton, Indiana).

Haynes-Bordas is a member of the Indianapolis Asset Building Coalition and currently co-chairs the “Indy Saves Joins 2008 America Saves Week” campaign to increase savings and reduce debt of individuals and families in Greater Indianapolis. She and her husband, Al, live in Indianapolis and enjoy traveling to see family and friends from coast to coast.
